Butterfly Cape

The inspiration for this hooded cape came from the wing of a Lorquin’s Admiral butterfly that I had found. This cape is constructed of wool fabrics put together by piecing, reverse applique and needle felting.  Both hand and machine embroidery techniques are used to finish the design. It has a zip front with 2 hook and eye closures at the neck. Fully lined, there are 2 inside front pockets and the arm holes have zippers that can be closed when not in use. This cape measures 30 inches (76cm) from the back of the neck to the centre back hem and 4 1/4 inches (11 cm) from neck to shoulder tip.  A more detailed account of the design and construction of this cape can be found on my Facebook page.  $600
